QuiQue’s Peruvian Odyssey

QuiQue in Machu Picchu

I recently went to Peru to give a seminar on blacksmithing techniques to the local Peruvian metalsmithing community. The seminar was sponsored by Aceros Arequipa - the main steel manufacturer in Peru. This video includes my experience of the traffic, sightseeing, visiting blacksmith shops, the seminar, and even my travels to Cusco, Aquas Calientes, and Machu Picchu. There is no narration, but there is some really nice Andean music, still photos and live video included in this movie.

This is the last in a series of video tutorials on using the artmetal.com web site. The tutorial goes over the initial setup a new user should consider implementing when they first log into their account. In essence, the tutorial shows how to customize the users experience of the artmetal web site. Setting up subscriptions to groups/forums, blogs, individual posts, and buddy lists is an important concept to understand so that the individual can be notified of content that is specific to their interests.

So, I’ve finally upgraded the ArtMetal.com web site to a wonderful social networking web site for metal artisans. This upgrade has taken me well over 10 months to complete. It’s been a daunting task converting the old static html web pages into a content management system developed using the open source Drupal software. But the work has been well worth it because we now have a user friendly way for anyone to communicate on the artmetal.com web site.

Update ArtMetal Radio Status

2005 ArtMetal Shindig
So as you have seen, the ArtMetal Radio site has not been updated in quite some time. Well, the main reason for this is that I have been updating the main ArtMetal.com site to a new social networking web site. And the new site is very cool! Go check it out and become a member. It’s completely FREE! http://www.artmetal.com

Finding “Blacksmith” in Cyberspace

Interesting how the Internet has grown. I’ve been around this place since 1994. That’s eons in cyberspace time. So, I hear about a web site that is cataloging podcasts and somehow turning the audio into searchable text. This site is www.podzinger.com. So I head over there and try out the search by searching for “blacksmith.” Amazing at the results I got. Lots of it was not really applicable. However, I did follow one to a 411 podcast that interviewed this young man named Isaac who is a blacksmith and runs a podcast named Dailysonic. From there, I poke around their cool web site and search again for blacksmith. The results showed a personal interview that Isaac did on himself. and here is the link and info I found:
